This story contains renderings of a fictional Barracuda by Abimelec Design that are neither related to nor endorsed by Plymouth.
Classic American muscle cars don’t come much more iconic than the 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, lovingly referred to as the ‘Cuda. For as beloved as it is, however, Abimelec Design was recently inspired to create a ‘Cuda unlike any other.
In creating this dream Plymouth, the talented designer started off with the standard convertible model and decided to equip it with a custom Targa roof inspired by those of a modern-day Porsche 911 Targa.
If you were to close your eyes and think about a Plymouth ‘Cuda Convertible with a 911 Targa roof, you may be left scratching your head as to how a mish-mash like this could look good. Shockingly, it looks superb and makes us wish that a restomodder will turn a Barracuda like this into a reality.

In creating the car, Abimelec Design fitted the easily-identifiable silver roll hoop of a modern 911 Targa, as well as the rear glass canopy. Combine this new canopy with the silver windshield surround and pillars and you get a car that looks so good one could be excused Plymouth actually built the ‘Cuda Convertible like this back in the day.
A number of other changes have been made to the car. For example, it has been designed with an aggressive new stance thanks to the lowered ride height, rocks a set of oversized steel wheels, is fitted with a 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8, has a custom steering wheel, and is rocking a two-tone black & tan interior.
