Tea enthusiasts and Jeep enthusiasts so rarely have something in common to celebrate, but that thin sliver of the Venn diagram will finally overlap thanks to the Gladiator pickup, which will be offered with Earl gray paint for the 2023 model year.
Jeep describes the color as a “bold shade of gray with hints of aquamarine,” and it was first introduced on the Gladiator Farout concept. That 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6-powered concept with a 16 by 7.5 foot (4.9 x 2.3 meter) rooftop tent that comfortably sleeps four was one of the automaker’s builds for the 2020 Easter Jeep Safari.
“The Jeep community voiced a ton of positive feedback for Earl when it debuted on the Gladiator Farout concept,” said Jim Morrison, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand North America. “We work to deliver what our customers tell us they want, and Earl is the latest example of another standout shade that speaks to our loyal and avid Jeep community.”

The automaker also previously announced that the color would be added to the Wrangler lineup for 2023. On that model, it will be joined by the equally referential “Reign” shade of purple. That is the first violet hue offered on a Wrangler since 2018.
“These limited-run colors like Earl and Reign draw a huge enthusiast following because they’re exciting, authentic and stand out, much like the Jeep community,” said Morrison in July.
In the Gladiator lineup, meanwhile, Earl joins High Velocity, Firecracker Red, Hydro Blue, Sarge Green, Silver Zynith, Sting-Gray, Granite Crystal, black and Bright White. The new shade of gray will be offered on all Gladiator models, including the Sport, Overland, Rubicon, and Mojave.
Customers can now start ordering their 2023 Jeep Gladiator in Earl, or any of the above-listed colors. The new shade of gray will cost an extra $695 on top of the price of the truck.
