Ford Brazil commissioned Deus Ex Machina to create a special display vehicle out of the outgoing Ranger. The result is called “Rusty Blue” and combines a unique livery with a few off-road modifications.
The obvious highlight of the truck is the combination of the light blue color with weathered rusty body panels. This treatment makes the Ranger look like it was abandoned for years in the jungle. We’re not sure how the team behind Rusty Blue achieved the rusty effect, but it looks like a custom vinyl wrap.
This Ranger also got a roof rack complete with an axe and a shovel, yellow-tinted lights on the front unpainted bumper, a pair of aftermarket tinted headlights, and a set of grippy BF Goodrich all-terrain tires.

The Ford Ranger Rusty Blue was created to promote the Swank Rally Brazil, an off-road competition for vintage and modern motorcycles. The rally takes place in different places all around the world including airstrips, beach sand, and ice. This time it is held on a specially prepared off-road track located on a farm in Sao Paolo.
The truck will be on display in Deus Ex Machina’s store at the event, alongside a 1953 Ford Farming tractor, while test drives of the Ford Ranger FX4 special edition are also offered.
Sydney-based Deus Ex Machina is known for its custom motorcycles but it also offers clothing and accessories. Cris Almeida, partner of Deus Ex Machina in Brazil, said that the Rusty Blue Ranger is just the beginning of their partnership with Ford, as they have “several interesting projects in mind”.
