During a recent Nurburgring run, this red Porsche 718 Boxster prototype was captured on camera, further cementing the arrival of a new flagship version within the range.

Expected to be called the 718 Boxster GTS, the car will feature an altered front bumper design compared to its 718 Boxster and Boxster S siblings, while also boasting new air intakes, a spoiler lip for improved downforce, stiffer suspension, new wheels and a new exhaust system.

Speaking of its exhaust, we’re hopeful that this GTS version will bark louder than the current models, especially since one of our readers was convinced that another prototype, which he spotted recently, sounded more aggressive than the existing production cars.

What’s certain though is that in GTS guise, the 718 Boxster will have more power. We expect an increase between 25 to 30 PS, which would take total output to somewhere around 375-380 PS (369-374 HP).

Customers should still be able to order either a manual transmission as standard, or the dual-clutch PDK automatic on the 718 Boxster GTS, while no significant interior changes are expected. It’s debut is believed to happen at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September.
