Hyundai will bring the all-electric Seven Concept and the new Ioniq 6 to the Montreal Auto Show running from January 20-30, 2023 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal.

While it has been more than a year since the Hyundai Seven Concept was unveiled at last year’s LA Auto Show, this will mark the first time that it is shown in Canada. The automaker refers to the vehicle as an SUEV (Sport Utility Electric Vehicle) and will soon launch a production variant of it, dubbed the Ioniq 7.

Underpinning the Seven Concept is the same Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) from Hyundai as the Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and both the Genesis GV60 and Kia EV6. It remains to be seen if it will have the same 77.4 kWh battery pack as the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 when it reaches the production line but Hyundai is said to be targeting a range of more than 300 miles (483 km) and 350 kW charging, meaning it can charge from 10-80 per cent capacity in just 20 minutes.

The exterior design of the Seven Concept shares some features with other Ioniq models, including the ‘pixel’ headlights and taillights. It is similar in size to the Palisade and while the design will be toned down for the production model, it should still make a very serious statement on the road.

As for the Hyundai Ioniq 6, it celebrated its North American debut at last month’s LA Auto Show and while pricing and technical specifications haven’t been confirmed for the Canadian market, we do know what configurations it will be available in when sold in the United States.

Sitting at the base of the range is a 53 kWh battery pack driving a single electric motor at the rear axle that delivers 149 hp and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. The mid-range and flagship variants then use a 77.4 kWh battery pack with the rear-wheel drive variant good for 225 hp and the all-wheel drive model producing 320 hp and 446 lb-ft (605 Nm) of torque.
