A Ferrari F40 unlike any other is heading to January’s Tokyo Auto Salon and has been created by none other than Liberty Walk.
The Japanese tuner is best known for producing dramatic wide bodykits for some of the planet’s most powerful and popular performance cars. The F40 has served as the basis for its latest project and based on these renderings released by Liberty Walk, it will be a real show-stopper.

Ordinarily, Liberty Walk bolts on wheel arch extensions but its bodykit for the F40 looks more refined. The entire front end has been widened, not just the arches, and ditches the original pop-up headlights in favor of larger light units very similar to those of the F40 LM race car. A new hood has also been developed for the supercar, complete with a central NACA duct above the Ferrari badge, and a massive air duct in front of the windshield.
The changes continue with louvers on the front wheel arches while visible along the sides of the Ferrari include black aftermarket wheels, lowered side skirts, and new wheel arches.
If you thought the front was insane, just look at the rear. It now sports an enlarged wing and also rocks an aerodynamic diffuser.
It is unclear if Liberty Walk has made any changes to the car’s 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 but we wouldn’t be surprised if it has. At the very least we expect to see a new lightweight exhaust system to make the car sound even better. It’s not yet known if this F40 has been built as an F40 or if Liberty Walk will actually sell the upgrade package to existing F40 owners.
