Rimac has made the new C-Two electric hypercar ‘Hamster-proof’, with a fire extinguisher held in place by a leather strap, with a very cheeky message: “In case of hill climb, extinguish fire”.

This is a reference to Richard Hammond’s crash, in the Rimac Concept_One, during a hill climb in Switzerland last year, while filming for The Grand Tour, which makes a strong case for the saying ‘there’s no such thing as bad publicity.

Contacted by DriveTribe to comment on this approach, Hammond said: “I’m delighted. I’ve always wanted to have a real influence in car design. And now I have.”

Following the accident, The Grand Tour’s presenter was rushed to hospital with a knee fracture, while the Concept-One was completely destroyed. Rimac counted it as a loss, despite only making 10 examples of it, and went on with their new project, the C_Two.

Presented earlier this week at the Geneva Motor Show, the Rimac C_Two uses an electric powertrain, with a combined output of 1,888hp (1,914PS) and 1,696lb-ft (2,300Nm) of torque. This results in a 0-60mph (0-96km/h) made in a dizzying 1.85 seconds, and a top speed of 258mph (412km/h).

Let’s just hope that we’ll see it in action in The Grand Tour’s season 3 with, why not, Richard Hammond in the driver’s seat.
