Few vehicles have quite the same presence as the BMW XM and for prospective owners wanting to make a particularly bold statement, BMW will offer it in paint colors just as in-your-face as the SUV’s design.
The first XM showcased to the world back in September was painted in a relatively subtle shade of Cape York Green and we have since also seen the SUV painted in Black Sapphire. Now, BMW has showcased it in Toronto Red when unveiling the XM in China.
While you won’t see all that many BMW models painted in Toronto Red, we think it suits the XM quite well. Helping to ensure that the red paint is not overbearing are a host of black elements as part of the extended M Shadowline package. This doesn’t just include black elements across the front fascia but also includes black arches, black skirts, a black waistline, and a black rear diffuser.
BMW Blog notes that other paint options available at no additional cost for the XM include M Marina Bay Blue, Mineral White, Dravit Gray, and Carbon Black. Buyers not satisfied with these options will also be able to choose from the dizzying array of colors available through the BMW Individual program.
Powering the XM is a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that produces 483 hp and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque. This engine operates alongside an electric motor bolted inside the transmission that generates 194 hp. All up, the super SUV is good for 644 hp at 5,400 rpm and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque between 1,600-5,000 rpm. This summer, an even more powerful version dubbed the XM Label Red will hit the market with 735 hp and 735 lb-ft (997 Nm).
