In the age of EVs, it’s no longer surprising to see a once-boring segment of vehicles deliver surprising amounts of performance. By now, we know that the Kia EV6 GT is a prime example of this, but this video of it drifting around the Nurburgring really helps put it into perspective.
After all, we’re talking about a compact crossover – one from Kia, of all brands – and it can be seen strolling right by AMGs, BMW M cars, and even Porsches on its run. The car manages to handle the corners with ample composure (at least when the rear end isn’t intentionally being broken loose), and it demonstrates impressive acceleration on the straights.

That being said, this performance is only surprising in concept, as one look at the spec sheet will tell you everything you need to know. 576 hp ( 584 PS / 430 kW), 545 lb-ft (739 Nm) of torque, drift mode, and a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time of 3.5 seconds all show that this car means business, and its aggressive exterior styling at least partially hints at that. Kia also claims a top speed of 162 mph (261 km/h) for the EV6 GT, though due to the overall lack of straightaway distance, the one in the video “only” managed to hit 152 mph (245 km/h).
We’d be curious to see how much battery the car has remaining after the run, but even more curious to see what kind of lap time the EV6 put in.
