The electric revolution continues at Mercedes and spy photographers have snapped the EQG up-close.

Thanks to the latest pictures, we’re getting a look inside and things are unsurprisingly familiar.  That being said, we can see an assortment of relatively small changes including a new steering wheel and a revamped center console with a more minimalist touchpad controller.

The changes don’t end there as we can see a revised center stack with new switchgear between the air vents.  While the current model has three rocker switches for the locking diffs, the EQG has a “Low Range” button as well as a switch to activate its G-Turn function.  They’re joined by other settings and it appears designers have turned the space between the vents into a mini off-road command center.

Further below, there’s a new row of switchgear that is fancier than what’s found in the current G-Class.  The model also eschews the analog clock as well as the lower row of switchgear.

Besides giving us a glimpse inside, the latest pictures provide a more detailed look at the EV’s exterior.  While there isn’t much we haven’t already seen, it appears the grille won’t be fully enclosed like on the EQG concept.  Furthermore, we can see aerodynamically optimized wheels and unique fender flare vents that presumably help to minimize drag.

Mercedes hasn’t delved into many specifics, but the model will ride on a familiar ladder frame and feature a quad motor powertrain with “enormous pulling power and controllability.” Mercedes has also revealed the model will be offered with an optional extended range battery pack that uses a silicon anode chemistry.  The latter allows for a 20-40% increase in energy density and enables vehicles to “store much more energy in the same space,” thus increasing their range by a “significant amount.”
