Marketed as a reliable, robust and comfortable cruiser, the new generation Volkswagen Touareg has arrived in Kazakhstan, on its way to Beijing, China.

The new SUV faced some harsh environments that included lots of snow and ice, as well as muddy roads, and managed to get by them easily, or at least that’s what the automaker is trying to say in this latest teaser.

As far as the actual vehicle goes, it remains hidden away under a thin layer of camouflage.

The vinyl stickers cover its entire front and rear ends, but otherwise, it’s quite obvious that the 2019 Volkswagen Touareg has a thing or two in common with the Arteon. So, expect a similar large grille with horizontal bars and headlights, plus creases along the bonnet.

The similarities continue inside too, where an Arteon-like dashboard is found, joined by different wood and aluminum trims, leather upholstery, ambient lighting and a dual-screen layout.

Volkswagen has equipped the third generation Touareg with different driving modes, rear-wheel steering and other features that make it easier to drive in congested traffic, a peach on the highway, and also quite good once it leaves the comfort of the tarmac.

Looking to challenge the likes of the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE, the all-new Touareg will be unveiled on March 23, and go on sale in global markets later this year.
