Dubbed ‘The Valet Prank’, this video is meant to showcase the latest-generation Porsche Panamera’s dynamic attributes, while also playing a joke on quite a few people.
The automaker relied on three valets, 25 cameras, a hidden film crew and racing legend Jacques Bernard “Jacky” Ickx, who boasts six Le Mans wins, 25 Formula 1 podiums and 14 Paris-Dakar rallies on his resume. Ickx is now 73 years old, yet appears to still love spirited driving.
While at first it may seem like Porsche is only out to prank the residents of a nearby hotel, eventually we learn that the film crew was duped as well. Apparently, they had no idea Ickx would be getting behind the wheel of the car, and freaked out when they saw the valets allowing him to drive off.
We have to admit, it’s pretty funny – pranking the pranksters is a lot like setting a bully straight, it gives you a sense of karmic justice, of sorts.
As for the co-star of this video, the Porsche Panamera, judging by its rear end, we’re dealing with the entry-level model, which means that Ickx had 330 PS and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque at his disposal. These figures help the car hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.7 seconds, and max out at 264 km/h (164 mph).
