Only a few weeks after showcasing a dramatic electric pickup truck concept to compete with the Ford F-150 Lightning at CES in January, Ram has now unveiled the production version of the 2024 1500 REV. This truck bears more than just a passing resemblance to its gas-powered counterpart and is essentially an electric version of the ICE truck. Stellantis has also announced that it will start accepting reservations for the 1500 REV truck, which will be highlighted in tonight’s Super Bowl commercial.
Contrary to expectations set by the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV concept, which suggested a unique design, akin to GM’s effort with the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV, the production model mirrors the standard ICE-powered Ram 1500 adopting Ford’s more mundane approach with the F-150 Lightning. It shares the same shape as the standard truck, with the main differences being the updated front and rear ends that emulate the concept’s modern styling. This includes futuristic-looking lights, grille, logo, and bespoke wheels.

Very little else was revealed about the production truck, but looking at the pictures, we see that it has a crew cab-body with a short bed that doesn’t seem long enough to accommodate the concept model’s third-row with jump seats, though, it is possible that Ram may offer additional configurations down the road.
Currently, there are limited photos of the interior, but it appears that the cabin is unchanged from the gas-powered 1500, except for the addition of a passenger-side front display that’s similar to the one used in the Jeep Grand Wagoneer, and different software for the central infotainment screen. Much like its competitors, the Ram also comes with a frunk, complete with weatherproof protection and access to onboard power.
Technical Specifications
Ram has previously said that the pickup will be built on the new truck-focused STLA Frame platform that is made specifically for body-on-frame EVs. It promises to offer more than 500 miles (804 km) of all-electric range, which if true, will surpass most of its competitors. The automaker has claimed that it will be able to add up to 100 miles (160km) of range in 10 minutes with 800-volt DC fast charging at up to 350 kW. While towing capacities have not been disclosed yet, Ram has stated that it will “lead the competition,” suggesting it will be able to tow more than the 10,000 lbs (4,535kg) offered by the Chevrolet Silverado EV and Ford F-150 Lightning, and may even surpass the Tesla Cybertruck’s claimed 14,000 lbs (6,350 kg).
“The Ram brand has redefined the pickup truck segment before and will once again with the all-new Ram 1500 REV,” said Ram boss Mike Koval Jr. “We believe in bringing the right range of powertrain solutions to our customers, and the Ram 1500 REV will be the first in a lineup of electrified solutions that will add to our current award-winning truck lineup. We are on an exciting electrification journey that will see Ram push past the competition in areas customers care about the most: range, payload, towing and charge time.”
Super Bowl Ad And Reservations
Stellantis has chosen the Super Bowl LVII (see our advertisement round up here) to introduce the new electric Ram to the public with a raunchy, innuendo-filled commercial called “Premature Electrification.” At the same time, reservations for the Ram 1500 REV will open through a dedicated website at RamRev.com, where you can secure a pre-order spot for a $100 refundable fee.
Production and sales of the new Ram 1500 REV will begin in late 2024, with more information to be released in the coming months.
