Does the Buick brand need a three-door hatchback in its line-up? Not really. However, after looking at these renderings, you may be inclined to say the opposite.
These renderings were recently shared to the General Motors Design page on Instagram and show two different interpretations of a potential hatch from Buick.
The first is finished in a shade of turquoise and comes from Geoffrey Richmond. It imagines a Buick that is somewhat similar in shape and proportions to the quirky Kia Soul. Key design highlights of it include flared front and rear wheel arches, a two-tone hood, sharp LED headlights, and a small front grille. Other elements that catch the eye include the curvaceous side windows and the upright tailgate. We think it looks quite nice but there’s another hatchback design that’s even more enticing.
This particular one was designed by Alex Fischer and has some hints of the Buick Wildcat Concept but reminds us more of the Kia EV6, albeit on a smaller scale. Visible at the front end of the hatchback are LED headlights connected by two horizontal light bars. The car also sports an angular front fascia and lacks a traditional front grille.

The hatchback has also been imagined with a pair of slim wing mirrors, blacked-out fenders, and particularly aggressive lines running along the doors. The C-pillars also caught our eye, as did the roof rails and the slim LED taillights.
It’s all rather marvelous, wouldn’t you agree?
