Earlier today Volkswagen showed us a lightly camouflaged prototype of the facelifted Touareg but it seems that we don’t have to wait until the summer 2023 debut before we lay eyes on its redesigned bodywork. A trio of screenshots presumably grabbed from the new model’s infotainment system reveal a 3D model of the 2024 VW Touareg in its full glory.

The screenshots were shared on Instagram by cochespias1 and wilcoblok and show both ends of the German SUV. The front end pretty much confirms what we saw in the official teasers, with a thinner grille, larger bumper intakes, and the new IQ.LIGHT HD matrix headlights featuring an LED bar that connects them to the VW emblem.

The rear is more exciting as the camouflage wraps in official photos and our earlier scoop stories were hiding some significant changes. The new taillights not only got revised LED graphics as expected but a full-width cluster that also houses the illuminated emblem on the tailgate. Mind you, VW said that the updated Touareg will be its first European offering to gain this feature, following other models in the US and China.

The silver-painted 3D model has its wheels highlighted in red, which could mean that this is a sub-menu for the suspension or wheel/tire settings. We can also see a hint of the rear diffuser that houses dual exhaust pipes finished in chrome – just like in the outgoing model. Thankfully, the resolution of the 15-inch infotainment touchscreen courtesy of the Touareg’s Innovision cockpit is high enough to show all of the styling cues, despite the weird angles.

The 2024 VW Touareg will debut in the summer of 2023, with carry-over powertrains and a revised chassis setup – both for the regular and the optional air suspension. Following the leak, Volkswagen might decide to show us the SUV earlier than initially planned, or ramp up its teaser campaign.
