Porsche makes some of the best drivers’ cars on earth, so it only makes sense that it wants to help its customers find the best drives. Now, it has completely overhauled its ROADS by Porsche app to make it even better for drivers with the help of artificial intelligence.
“The centerpiece of the new ROADS app is the generator for scenic routes,” said Robert Ader, Porsche’s Chief Marketing Officer. “It allows driving fans to find their own individual dream route with just a few clicks.”
Porsche says that unlike Google Maps or other mapping systems, ROADS by Porsche doesn’t necessarily pick the shortest distance between two locations. Instead, it picks routes based on how curvy, balanced, or dynamic the roads are.

“AI works out a suitable route based on various parameters such as the curves of the road, the topography, landscape features, or exciting points of interest,” said Ader. “From their starting point, the user can plan a circuit route or navigate to a specific destination—no matter where in the world they are.”
Once the route has been calculated, it can be displayed directly on any infotainment system (not just Porsche’s) via Apple CarPlay. After they’ve taken the route, drivers can save, share, and even rate it for other app users.
Porsche says that intuitive guidance was a major priority for the development team, and that the region-based dashboard gives users a number of easy options to help get them started. From there, dynamic filters can be applied to make the next drive even better. The most popular local routes, meanwhile, can be accessed with just one click.
It’s not just tight bends and impressive topography, though, that the app can help drivers see. If there are specific sights that they want their route to go by, drivers can input them, and the app will fold that destination into the route. Even if there isn’t something specific, the app can recommend new routes around you with interesting destinations and sights to see along the way.
