Recreational vehicles are great, but by and large are confined to roads. Jeff Rohrer, a former Dallas Cowboys linebacker, and now the founder of Toro Bravo, has attempted to create an RV that can go anywhere you want to.

Together with help from the concept engineering studio, PROTOTYP3, they have launched the Silver Spear, Toro Bravo’s first product. Described as an all-in-one, work truck, RV, and toy hauler, the vehicle can be based on either the Ford F-550, Chevrolet Silverado 5500, or Ram 5500 Crew Cab. To that, the company adds an aluminum-skinned truck camper-style box.

The Silver Spear’s real cleverness comes from the 3D-printed materials inside the camper that make it enormously adaptable. That includes custom-designed cabinetry, a removable kitchen cooktop, a permanent sink counter, bunk beds, and over-cab bedside storage.

In all, the Silver Spear can have three beds—one queen size bed and fold-down bunk beds. The kitchen, meanwhile, has a two-burner propane stove and a 25-gallon (95-liter) power cooler. It also has a wet bathroom with a 60-gallon (227 liters) fresh water tank, a 30-gallon (113 liters) gray water tank, and a composting toilet, to remove the necessity of emptying a blackwater tank.

A cantilever ramp, meanwhile, is useful for getting gear in and out of the camper, which is designed to be large enough to haul sports vehicles, such as snowmobiles. The ramp, though, can also be positioned at a 90-degree angle, allowing it to be used as an outdoor table, cook station, porch, or even a workbench.

“The mission of Toro Bravo 4×4 is to design an approachable and affordable multipurpose overlander vehicle that can serve a myriad of functions,” said Rohrer. “With the introduction of our first model, the Silver Spear, owners have the unique ability to swap out their work tools in minutes for their favorite outdoor weekend toys and hit the road.”

Intended for hardcore overlanding, Toro Bravo says that the Silver Spear comes from the factory with 40-inch tires that are rated for speeds of up to 81 mph (130 km/h). The company also says that the truck will still be able to tow boats, jet skis, horse trailers, and more, with the box attached.

“This 4×4 RV is designed to go deeper and further into our beautiful nation’s wonders and, hopefully, out of cell service,” said Rohrer. “Where the road ends for most RVs is where the road begins for Silver Spear.”

People interested in the camper can now pre-order it from Toro Bravo for a deposit of $100. Prices for the Silver Spear will start in the mid-to-low $200,000s, the company says.
