If you’re anything like us you probably spend too much time refining fantasy new car builds on automakers’ online configurators. But sometimes those configurators don’t go quite far enough, especially if you’re into the tuner way of doing things.
Germany’s Techart is fairly unusual among tuners in that it offers its own online configurator that allows you to modify Porsche cars and SUVs just like you would on Porsche’s own site. And now the renowned Porsche fettler has expanded the configurator to include the 911 GT3, GT3 Touring, 911 GTS, and the Panamera.
GT3 options include Techart’s Formula VII forged wheels in various finishes, 19 different colors for the brake calipers, 15 mm (0.6-in) wider front fenders with GT3 RS-style saw-tooth gills and a hood, mirror caps, rear wing, front spoiler side skirts and other exterior details fashioned from carbon fiber.
You might expect the Panamera’s styling options to be comparatively tame next to the GT3’s, but if you really want your Stuttgart sedan to stand out you can option it with a set of huge fender flares along with a carbon hood, front, and rear bumper and a massive diffuser that can even be specced in white.

The configurator doesn’t look quite as slick as Porsche’s own, which appears to have been recently overhauled, and there aren’t as many options. But it does offer you the advantage of being able to view the car from any angle, the model moving without any frustrating lag. Porsche’s configurator only gives you a series of fixed images to scroll through.
There’s also a useful feature that allows you to click between the standard car and your modified creation so you can check how much of a dog’s dinner you’ve made of your build, or remind yourself how boring the donor car looked before you started modding.
Once you’re happy with your configuration it can be saved as a PDF or you can send it directly to a Techart customer adviser, much like you would with an OEM configuration.
