If you were to simply look at the price tags of the McLaren Artura and the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, one would expect the British supercar to easily out-sprint its American rival. However, this video reveals that this isn’t necessarily the case.

The McLaren Artura has a starting price of $237,500 in the United States. That’s a reasonable price tag for a hybrid supercar wearing a McLaren badge but it’s significantly more expensive than a Z06. In fact, the ‘Vette has an MSRP of just $106,395, although actually finding one for that price from a dealership is pretty much impossible.

Nevertheless, popular YouTuber DragTimes decided to pit the two together for a series of drag races to see which could come out on top. The two are well-matched, even though there is a clear and consistent winner.

Both cars launch off the line superbly in the first race, although it was the Corvette Z06 that got the slightly better launch. The two remain neck-and-neck for the first half of the race but as the speeds start to build, the Artura pulls out a healthy lead and crosses the line a couple of cars lengths ahead of the Chevy.

The results are very similar in the second race with the Z06 getting the better launch but the Artura closing in by the end and taking the win. The McLaren ultimately finished with a best quarter-mile time of 10.539 seconds at 134.95 mph compared to the 10.939 second time of the Chevy at 124.27 mph.

In terms of power, the two cars are very well matched with the Z06 delivering 670 hp and 460 lb-ft (624 Nm) while the Artura has 671 hp and 531 lb-ft (720 Nm). However, the McLaren weighs significantly less with a curb weight of 3,303 lbs (1,498 kg) compared to the 3,721 lb (1,687 kg) curb weight of the Chevy.
