Fernando Alonso shocked the Formula 1 paddock when he announced his departure from the Alpine team after being poached by Aston Martin. Now, a couple of months after joining his new team, Alonso was tasked with helping to promote the DBX 707.
There’s no denying that the Aston Martin DBX 707 is one of the craziest SUVs currently on sale and even though very few owners will ever be brave enough to drive on a circuit, this video shows the V8-powered SUV at a circuit in pursuit of ‘The Perfect Lap.’
The description of the video reveals that the DBX 707 used is owned by Alonso himself and clearly, he isn’t afraid of pushing it to its absolute limits. Throughout, he pushes the SUV down the straight and through corners, using every inch of the track in pursuit of the perfect lap which, the Spaniard says, is always just out of reach.

Aston Martin unveiled the DBX 707 last year as the ultimate version of the already-impressive DBX. It features a modified 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that churns out 697 hp and 663 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque, gains of 155 hp and 147 lb-ft (200 Nm) over the standard model. It is far from the most track-focused model in the British automaker’s current line-up but Aston Martin clearly thought it needed a little bit of promotion thanks to Alonso.
In developing the DBX 707, Aston Martin didn’t just modify the engine and call it a day. Instead, they also worked extensively on the chassis set-up, installing new adaptive triple-chamber air suspension with revised damper valves and recalibrated springs. These changes allow it to do things on a track that most people would consider impossible.
