Whoever sat behind the wheel of this Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport must know how lucky they were to escape bouncing off that guardrail at the Nurburgring.
This is probably one of the best “saves” we’ve seen that also involve a massive understeer issue, one that looked pretty much impossible to avoid the closer the car got to the grass.
The winning move was getting off the brakes and allowing the car to step back in line. In the end, while we can’t be sure there was zero physical contact between the Cayman’s rear bumper and the guardrail, it’s also possible that the sound we hear is the gravel hitting the barrier. Either way, this was a really close call, one that was caused by an overeager driver who clearly approached that left hand turn with way too much speed.
As for the most hardcore near-miss involving a Cayman GT4, we’d have to give that up to this guy, who managed to overcome a spin that occurred at 227 km/h (141 mph), also on the Nurburgring.
