The first VinFast VF 8 City Editions arrived in the United States last December and deliveries were originally slated to begin later that month. However, that never happened as the model was held back so the company could update their software.

While delays are rarely a good thing, this was likely a wise move as the crossover was originally slated to have a dismal range of 179 miles (288 km).  The software update increases the range up to 207 miles (333 km), which is a welcome improvement, although the crossover still falls short of competitors.

Now, VinFast is ready to begin deliveries and will be holding an event in California on March 1 to mark their “new journey in the international market.”  For those unable to attend and pick up their crossover in person, customers can have it delivered to their home or arrange pick up at a local “store.”

VinFast To Begin U.S. Deliveries On March 1, Leases Drop To $399 Per Month

Le Thi Thu Thuy, Vice Chair of Vingroup, remarked “Our team worked tirelessly to ensure VinFast vehicles meet the highest standards of quality, [as well as the] fit and finish our customers expect. The presence of VinFast electric cars on US streets in the coming days is an important milestone, accelerating VinFast’s journey to compete in the US and abroad. Following deliveries in the US market, VinFast expects to deliver EVs in Canada, France, Germany, and the Netherlands.”

Besides announcing the impending start of deliveries, VinFast is offering an even more aggressive leasing program.  While there have been countless changes over the past few months, the company dropped the price of the VF 8 City Edition to $49,000 in January and was offering the VF 8 Eco City Edition for $519 per month with $6,314 down.

Now, they’ve slashed the price to $399 per month with $5,174 down.  The VF 8 Plus City Edition is also far more affordable as it’s $513 per month with $5,413 down.

As a refresher, the VF 8 Eco City Edition has an 82 kWh battery pack that feeds a dual-motor all-wheel drive system developing 349 hp (260 kW / 354 PS) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque.  This enables the model to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in approximately 6.5 seconds .

The VF 8 Plus City Edition is similar, but it features upgraded equipment as well as a dual motor all-wheel drive system with 402 hp (300 kW / 408 PS) and 457 lb-ft (619 Nm) of torque.  This cuts the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time to around 5.5 seconds, but the range falls to 191 miles (307 km).
