BMW recently presented a mid-lifecycle update for the fourth-gen X5, but owners of the outgoing model can also upgrade the looks of their SUV thanks to Prior Design. The tuner offers a new widebody kit for the X5, making it look nearly as sporty as the full-blown X5 M.
At the front, the BMW X5 got a bonnet bulge which is purely cosmetic as the engine underneath remains stock. Furthermore, the bumper from the M-Package has been retrofitted with carbon-style garnish for the intakes and a pronounced splitter featuring a body-colored insert.

The highlight of the bodykit is the front and rear fender extensions that work best with the optional larger-diameter multi-spoke alloy wheels shod in wider performance tires. At the back, Prior Design went with a double spoiler solution, combining a large roof spoiler extension with another one on the base of the rear glass. Rounding up the changes, there is a new larger diffuser slotting between the dual tailpipes.
The kit is compatible with all powertrain variants of the BMW X5 G05 as long as they are combined with the M-Package right from the factory. Mind you, setting aside the full-blown M, the most powerful X5 in the pre-facelifted range is the M50i with 523 hp (390 kW / 530 PS) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque from the 4.4-liter V8 which has been upgraded with a mild-hybrid system on the facelifted model. Prior Design is not offering any tuning packages for the engine or the suspension of the X5 so interested parties should look elsewhere.
Prior Design is accepting pre-orders for the X5 parts which are still under development – thus the computer-generated images previewing the final product. The official website doesn’t mention pricing which is available per request.
