Fans of high-performance convertibles are in luck as spy photographers have snapped the 2024 Mercedes-AMG CLE 63.
Still sporting a decent amount of camouflage, the drop top has an aggressive front bumper and a telltale Panamericana grille. The latter is flanked by sweptback headlights, which feature slender daytime running lights that double as turn signals.
The sporty styling continues further back as we can see muscular side skirts and lightweight wheels wrapped in Continental rubber. The latter are backed up by a high-performance braking system that features ventilated discs as well as bronze calipers.

Other notable highlights include a retractable soft top and traditional door handles. They’re joined by an angular trunk, eye-catching taillights, and a four-tailpipe exhaust system with square tips. The latter indicates this is the range-topping 63 variant as the 53 will sport circular tailpipes.
Spy photographers didn’t get a look inside, but the cabin will follow in the footsteps of the C-Class and this means we can expect a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster as well as an 11.9-inch infotainment system. The convertible should also have a sport steering wheel, heavily bolstered seats, and a handful of AMG touches.
While snow and exhaust makes it hard to see, spy photographers noted the prototype has a charging port on the rear bumper. This isn’t too surprising as the model is expected to share its plug-in hybrid powertrain with the C63 S E Performance. This means we can expect a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, a 6.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, and a rear-mounted electric motor.
This setup gives the sedan a combined output of 671 hp (500 kW / 680 PS) and 752 lb-ft (1,018 Nm) of torque. Those are healthy numbers and they enable the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.3 seconds, before hitting a top speed of up to 174 mph (280 km/h).
