What started of as a Cadillac Coupe De Ville back in 1976, turned into a period truck conversion that was later fully restored, drawing power from a 512ci V8 engine.

Just over 200 units made their way into Cadillac dealer networks between 1975 and 1976, built by Traditional Coachworks in Chatsworth, California. This exact car, getting auctioned off on Bring a Trailer, started off as Firethorn Red, later to be repainted in Mercedes-Benz Crystal Laurit Silver Metallic.

The interior has been reupholstered at a cost of $8,500, and now houses a modern air conditioning system and a Dakota digital instrument cluster. According to the seller, all electronics and switchgear work except for the power antenna. Other features include cruise control, leather upholstery, 6-way power seats, twilight sentinel headlights, adjustable steering wheel, a trailer package and more.

Powered by a large-displacement V8, the Mirage ute is said to put down more than 400 HP and 600 lb-ft (813 Nm) of torque, with the help of a 3-speed turbo hydramatic transmission. In order to handle all that extra “muscle”, a custom braking system was used, with a Hydratech hydro-boost conversion.

Since this Caddy is also meant to be practical, we need to mention that its bed can hold a 4×8-foot sheet of plywood and boasts additional storage under the floor, as shown in one of the images below.
