Malaysian automotive startup Hiperon Motors – not to be confused with the California-based Hyperion – presented the first renderings of an electric/hydrogen-powered luxury four-door crossover called Fosslin. The company, which unveiled the Hiperon Carrier fully electric van back in 2021, wants to put the Fosslin into production, with an initial batch of 10 units being delivered in the third quarter of 2023.
While the Hiperon Fosslin comes from Malaysia, it was penned by a European automotive design studio called One One Lab, and all of the engineering work took place in the US. At the moment, we only have access to sketches and renderings of the vehicle, and it is not known if the company has started building any actual prototypes yet.

The model will measure 4,880 mm (192.1 inches) long, 1,990 mm (78.3 inches) wide, and 1,689 mm (66.5 inches) tall, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm (116.1 inches). Those figures place it between the Tesla Model Y and Model X, although the wheelbase is closer to the latter. Similar to the Tesla EVs, the Hiperon Fosslin boasts an aerodynamic silhouette with short overhangs and a coupe-SUV stance. It also gets an illuminated but fully-covered grille, LED lighting units, frameless windows, suicide doors, and a nicely integrated ducktail spoiler at the back which is probably the most beautiful portion of the vehicle.
Moving inside, the cabin has four individual seats, a large panoramic sunroof, a yoke-style steering wheel, ambient lighting, and a rather slim center console housing the infotainment under a single glass cover. We can also see a few physical controls including the rotary dials on the doors which presumably let you select the desired temperature. The company talks about a 17-inch OLED screen but we can’t really see that in the renderings.
Equipment will include automatic tri-zone climate control, heated seats, steering wheel and armrest, head-up display, navigation, a 3D surround sound system, six USB slots, a wireless charging pad, a head-up display, and plenty of ADAS.
Hiperon released some of its technical specifications which are most likely for the fully electric Fosslin rather than the hydrogen-fueled variant. The 95 kWh battery pack promises a driving range of 280 miles (450 km). The electric motors produce 480 hp (358 kW / 487 PS) and 670 Nm (494 lb-ft) of torque, allowing a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration in 5 seconds and a top speed of 160 mph (260 km/h).
The company will initially produce five battery electric and five hydrogen-powered units of the Fosslin, which are scheduled to be delivered in the third quarter of the year. After three months of real-world testing with selected customers, Hiperon promises that they will make the Fosslin available in Asia, Europe, and North America at an undisclosed price. As for the Hiperon Carrier LCV, its production version will also debut in Q3 2023.
