KG Mobility, formerly known as SsangYong Motor, announced the full details of the new Torres EVX electric SUV. The electric version of the Torres is the first production model to receive the KG Mobility branding, alongside a bunch of concept cars that debuted at the Seoul Mobility Show.
The KG Mobility Torres EVX comes fitted with a single front-mounted electric motor producing 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS). Despite its rugged looks, the SUV is an FWD-only affair, at least for the time being. The 73.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack is sourced from BYD, offering 500 km (311 miles) of electric range according to the company’s WLTP estimates, or over 420 km (261 miles) measured under Korea’s circle.

The electric Torres EVX is more powerful than the ICE-powered Torres, which makes 168 hp (125 kW / 170 PS) from a 1.5 T-GDI engine, although the petrol-powered model is the only one offering an all-wheel-drive option.
KG Mobility’s electric SUV measures 4,715 mm (185.6 inches) long, 1,890 mm (74.4 inches) wide, and 1,725 mm (67.9 inches) tall, which makes it slightly larger than a Nissan Rogue / X-Trail. Visually, the Torres EVX is differentiated from the regular Torres thanks to the redesigned front with slimmer LED headlights, an illuminated grille, and different bumper intakes. The profile is carried over with a new set of 20-inch alloy wheels, while the rear end features unique LED graphics for the taillights, retaining the characteristic bump on the tailgate which resembles a spare wheel cover.
Inside, we find a digital cockpit with dual 12.3-inch screens mounted in a single panel, faux leather upholstery, and wood accents on the dashboard and the floating center console. This setup is also different from the Torres, even though it came out just a year ago. The cabin has room for five people and a massive 839 lt (29.6 cubic feet) boot which is bigger than the ICE-powered model’s 703 lt (24.8 cubic feet). There is also an optional panoramic sunroof.
According to the official configurator on the Korean website of KG Mobility, the Torres EVX is offered in two trim variants – the E5 and the E7. Both share the same powertrain and battery, so the only difference is the equipment and the pricing. More specifically, the E5 starts from ₩49,500,000 ($37,918) while the E7 is priced at ₩52,000,000 ($39,833). Adding up the subsidies for electric models, the price can go as low as ₩30,000,000 ($22,978), getting close to the ICE-powered Torres which starts from ₩26,900,000 ($20,609).
KG Mobility plans to offer the Torres EVX outside its home market in South Korea, with a European launch expected in the second half of the year, followed by Australia. In the next few years, the Torres EVX will be joined by other EVs in the KG Mobility lineup, as previewed by the O100 pickup, KR10 mid-size SUV, and F100 SUV concepts.
