It’s never nice to see a prized Ferrari that’s been involved in an accident but looking at this crumpled 1992 Ferrari 512TR is enough to make even a grown man cry.

The yellow Ferrari 512TR has been listed up for auction through IAAI with some serious, and likely irreparable, damage. Photos show that the passenger side of the mid-engined Italian supercar has been crushed and it seems rather obvious what has caused this kind of damage. In all likelihood, the driver slid the car sideways into a pole, cutting the car’s life tragically short.

As is usual of salvage listings like this, IAAI hasn’t provided any details about the crash itself nor has it specified what caused the damage. What it does confirm is that the car has a salvage certificate in West Virginia and it’s not just passenger-side damage that it has sustained. Photos reveal that the front quarter panels and hood have been damaged, the windshield has shattered, and some serious damage has also been done to the rear-quarter panel on the driver’s side.

Is This The End Of The Road For Rare Yellow Ferrari 512TR?

We suspect that the impact on the passenger side has ruined the car’s chassis and that repairing it simply wouldn’t be worth the time or effort. However, it is possible that the 512 TR’s 4.9-liter naturally-aspirated flat-12 has avoided damage and could be saved and potentially used as a spare or as part of an epic engine swap project. As new, this engine delivered 422 hp so even by today’s standards it offers plenty of performance. The five-speed manual transmission may also still be functional.

Additionally, many of the car’s interior parts can probably be saved, such as the driver’s seat, the steering wheel, and the gauge cluster.
