GMC is expanding the Hummer lineup with the new 3X trim for both the pickup and SUV versions of the all-electric truck. The new trim adds some extra driving range and a few new design details.
The longest-range Hummer EV will be the pickup in the 3X trim. Equipped as standard with 22-inch wheels and 35-inch all-terrain tires, amusingly, GMC claims that this will give the truck a more on-road and performance-oriented focus.
Like the Edition 1 Pickup, the 3X will come with three motors, one at the front and two at the back. Together, they combine to give the truck 1,000 hp (746 kW/1,014 PS). It will also have a GMC-estimated range of 355 miles (571 km), and be capable of towing 8,500 lbs (3,855 kg), which is 1,000 lbs (453 kg) more than the Edition 1.

Those looking for a little more off-road capability will be able to combine the 3X trim with the Extreme Off-Road Package. This adds under-body cameras, additional skid plates, and rocker protection. It also comes with 18-inch wheels and 35-inch Mud-Terrain tires, all of which hurt its range and towing capacity.
As a result of the extra equipment, the GMC Hummer EV 3X Pickup with the Extreme Off-Road Package can only go 329 miles (529 km) on a full charge, and tow 7,500 lbs (3,402 kg) – the same figures as the Edition 1 Pickup.
For the SUV version of the Hummer EV SUV, both the Edition 1 and the 3X trims will also be offered with the Extreme Off-Road Package. Both off-road-oriented versions get 298 miles (480 km) of range, according to the EPA. Without the package, the Edition 1 and the 3X trim both get 314 miles (505 km) of range.
All four models will get the same trio of motors, but the SUV gets “just” 830 hp (619 kW/841 PS) and 7,500 lbs (3,402 kg) of towing capability. Unfortunately, for owners who really want a Hummer EV 3X, GMC says that reservations are currently full for the truck, but promises that it will share more information on the matter soon.
