Ram is leaning into Star Wars and using May 4 to reveal “a new force is landing” on May 10.
The company is keeping details under wraps, but the teaser video appears to reference battles from the franchise as it shows a dusty and barren landscape with a storm on the horizon. A lone individual looks off into the distance, through binoculars, as a noticeable growl can be heard. While dinosaur comes to mind, it could also be the Wampa from The Empire Strikes Back.
Regardless of what’s making the noise, the video ends with a pair of lights off in the distance. The teaser is about as cryptic as they come, but Star Wars fans might want to temper their expectations. While it would be natural to assume the company is working on a Star Wars themed special edition, Ram could be teasing an updated 1500 with the twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six that debuted in the Jeep Wagoneer.

That remains to be seen, but the ‘force’ could be a reference to forced induction. The twin-turbo engine would certainly fit that bill and it produces 420 hp (313 kW / 426 PS) and 468 lb-ft (635 Nm) of torque. Stellantis also offers a high-output variant that requires premium gasoline and develops 510 hp (380 kW / 517 PS) as well as 500 lb-ft (678 Nm) of torque. That’s pretty impressive, but both versions of the Hurricane engine are more powerful than the current 5.7-liter HEMI V8 that churns out 395 hp (295 kW / 400 PS) and 410 lb-ft (555 Nm) of torque.
We’ll learn more next week, but May is shaping up to be truck month as the redesigned Tacoma will debut on May 19.
