Supercar replicas are usually based on cheap sportscars or custom tubular frames but there are some notable exceptions to the rule. One of them is this Smart Fortwo which has been converted into a Lamborghini impersonator thanks to a very custom body kit.
The Smartborghini was created by the Irish company Vale Automotive which also makes the Porsche Boxster GT1. This one started life as a 2014 Smart Fortwo that was stripped of its roof and the entirety of its body panels to make room for its new clothes. The new body is styled after the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, although the massive difference in the proportions makes it more like a real-life version of the squashed drawings of supercars.
Despite the bulky shape, there are a lot of Lamborghini styling traits, including the mostly fake air intakes, the reverse V-shaped bonnet, the diffuser, the quad tailpipes, and the aggressive aero package highlighted by orange accents. The mock-up lighting units have Y-shaped stickers, similar to the LED graphics on real Lambos. Furthermore, the 19-inch alloys are replicas of Lamborghini’s own Callisto rims and are shod in new tires.

The windscreen is shorter than the original, with the seat headrests poking out like they would in a children’s car. Having no roof is nothing new though, with the limited-production Smart Crossblade being the first to offer that feature back in 2002 alongside lambo-style scissor doors. The Smartborghini appears to have conventional doors but holes have been cut into them with integrated steps allowing easier access to the cabin.
The exposed interior has been reupholstered in leather and Alcantara with a diamond stitching pattern so it matches the wild looks of the exterior. The vehicle hasn’t moved much for the past decade, as it was mainly used for promotional purposes, something that can be proven by the odometer reading of only 51 miles (82 km).
No mechanical changes are mentioned pointing out to the stock 1.0-liter petrol three-cylinder engine likely producing 70 hp (52 kW / 71 PS) and 92 Nm (68 lb-ft) of torque. Like all of the Smart Fortwo generations, this one is both rear-engined and rear-wheel-drive. Maybe the future owner will give it more grunt with a Hayabusa engine swap.
The Gallardo caricature is listed for sale on eBay for a cool £11,999 ($15,039). However, there’s a catch as the Smartborghini is not street-legal in its current form due to the lack of proper headlights and taillights. Fix that though and you will be able to drive it on the road, most likely attracting loads of attention. Those interested should know that the car is located in Northern Ireland and can be shipped anywhere in the UK.
