Kia has used the New York Auto Show to introduce the 2019 Sedona.

Looking instantly recognizable, the minivan adopts a new front fascia that echoes the Sorento. As a result, the model has a sportier front bumper, larger air intakes and a modestly revised grille. Soccer moms will also find restyled headlights and distinctive LED fog lights.

The styling changes are less noticeable out back as the taillights have been tweaked and there’s additional chrome trim. The rear bumper has also been reworked and it features a sportier skid plate on higher-end variants.

Rounding out the exterior changes are new sliding door buttons on the door handles and restyled wheels ranging in sizes from 17- to 19-inches.

The interior largely carries over but there are host of minor changes including a revised instrument cluster and an available USB charging port in the luggage area. The center console also gains a sunglass holder and a newly available wireless smartphone charger.

Elsewhere, the Infinity audio system has been replaced by a new Harman Kardon system with eight-speakers. Buyers can also order a new rear seat entertainment system which features two 10.1-inch touchscreen displays instead of the previous single overhead display. The new system also has an upgraded processor, a smartphone-mirroring functionality and the option to access the internet via a smartphone connection.

Speaking of technology, the 2019 Sedona now offers a Driver Attention Warning system which provides audible and visual alerts to the driver if the system detects they are losing concentration. It joins an assortment of other driver assistance features such as Forward Collision Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Collision Warning, Blind Spot Collision Warning and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go.

Under the hood, the 3.3-liter V6 engine carries over and continues to produce 276 hp (205 kW) and 248 lb-ft (335 Nm) of torque. However, it is connected to a new eight-speed automatic transmission which promises to improve fuel-efficiency while also providing a “more seamless driving experience.”
