Although it unveiled the updated, 2024 Atlas at the Chicago Auto Show in the winter, Volkswagen is only now ready to disclose how much the renewed SUV will cost today. As ever, the more stylish, but less practical two-row Atlas Cross Sport kicks off pricing at $38,065 ($1,350 destination charge included)—around $2,300 more than the 2023 model.
The updated model includes new exterior design, a new higher-quality interior with better tech, and just one engine option. Volkswagen’s trusty VR6 gets the boot for 2024, and all Atlases and Atlas Cross Sports will come with four-cylinder engine that makes 269 hp (200 kW/273 PS) and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque. That’s nearly as much power and more torque than the VR6 could manage, and the automaker expects the engine to cut EPA fuel economy scores, too.
In the U.S., Volkswagen will offer the Atlas in six trim levels, while the Atlas Cross Sport will get five. The automaker also revealed pricing and specifications for its Canadian customers today, and they will have four Atlas and three Atlas Cross Sport trims to choose from.

In the U.S., the lineup for both models starts with the SE trim. It comes standard with 18-inch wheels, LED taillights, and four USB-C ports, just like the 2023 model. However, for 2024 VW is adding standard LED headlights, as well as a 12-inch touchscreen and 10.25-inch driver display. Whereas the Atlas Cross Sport SE starts at $38,065, the Atlas SE starts at $39,075 (all U.S. prices include a $1,350 destination charge).
The SE with Technology package adds an automatic liftgate, park distance control, remote start, and a 115v outlet. New for 2024, the trim adds 20-inch machined wheels, a lit VW emblem, a tow hitch, and a dashcam USB-C port in the rearview mirror. A Panoramic sunroof adds $1,200 to the package.
To the Atlas SE with Tech, the rugged Peak Edition package can be added. This comes with standard 4Motion all-wheel-drive, 18-inch black alloy wheels with all-terrain tires, silver underbody cladding, blackout interior detailing, a panoramic sunroof, 30-color ambient lighting, stainless steel pedal caps, and Peak Edition Badging.
The off-road styling package can also be added to the SEL trim. There, it offers the same exterior detailing, plus unique interior color and decor, as well as leatherette seating surfaces. Although it builds on the SEL trim, which is available on both the Atlas and the Atlas Cross Sport, the Peak Edition trim is only offered on the three-row Atlas.
Peak Edition additions notwithstanding, the SEL trim comes standard with heated washer nozzles, navigation, a memory function for the driver’s seat, dynamic road signs display, a heads-up display, 30-color ambient lightning, leather seating surfaces, heated second-row seats, and adaptive cruise control. The Atlas Cross Sport also gets the SEL R-Line, which adds special bumpers, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and stainless steel pedal caps.
Both the Cross Sport and standard Atlas lineups top out with the SEL-Premium R-Line trim. It gets 21-inch wheels, R-Line styling elements, power-folding mirrors, park-assist, area-view, and a fancy Harmon Kardon audio system. The new model is expected to reach dealers in the third quarter of 2023.
2024 VW Atlas Pricing – Canada
Meanwhile, up in Canada, consumers will be offered fewer trim choices, but will get 4Motion all-wheel-drive as standard. There, each model will be offered with three trim levels, while the three-row Atlas gets a Peak Edition. Again, the Atlas Cross Sport opens pricing and in all cases costs $1,100 less than the larger variant. It starts at $50,945 CAD (all prices include a $2,050 destination charge), which is a sizeable increase of $6,885 CAD over the 2023 model.
The Comfortline comes with 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, LED lights, a six-speaker sound system, a power driver’s seat, heated front seats, and more. The Peak Edition adds body cladding, all-terrain tires, and unique interior colors to the Atlas.
The Highline adds 20-inch wheels, 30-color ambient lighting, and more. A panoramic sunroof is the only option, and adds $1,500 CAD to the price of the vehicle. Finally, the Execline R-Line gets 21-inch alloy wheels, R-Line design, Park Assist, the Area View camera system, and a heads-up display. Volkswagen Canada also expects the 2024 Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport to reach dealers in the third quarter of 2023.
