Handling a lot of horsepower isn’t for the inexperienced and that becomes painfully evident as cars become more powerful. The Ford Mustang is one of many potent sports cars on sale today but for some reason, its drivers seem to be more prone to unforced errors behind the wheel than drivers of other vehicles. Two new videos caught on camera continue to build evidence for that case.
In the first of the two following incidents we discovered on Reddit, we see two muscle cars, a Dodge Challenger and a Mustang, roll up to a stop where onlookers beckon the drivers to do a burnout. The Dodge, as though this is not the very first time it’s done such a thing, obliges readily and quickly pumping smoke out from its rear tires while sitting otherwise stationary. The Mustang takes a different approach.
It seemingly waits for the Challenger to stop before it too lights up the tires but accelerates down the road at the same time. Initially, all seems well but just as the camera person begins to pan back toward the Dodge we see trouble in the distance. The Ford over-corrects its self-imposed slide and ends up across the opposite lane and perched on the curb.

In a second video, according to the Redditor who uploaded the incident, a “Brand new Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition” faces a more challenging situation. The entire incident is captured up close and personal as the driver of the Mustang makes a left-hand turn, gooses the throttle, gets the back end out a little, and promptly runs directly into a Chevrolet SUV at what looks to be less than 10 mph.
Only when the outcome is almost certainly assured does the evidence show that the driver is trying to save his pony car. The sound of the engine is traded off for the sound of squealing tires just before the accident occurs. If this truly was a GT500 Heritage, and it certainly looks like one from what we can tell, it’s an expensive mistake as that car starts at $76,695.
The lesson here is clear. Those who can’t keep a tight rein on their horses need to be a lot more careful out there.
