Irmscher recently turned a VW Transporter into an adventurous campervan, but the German tuner opted for a different strategy for its take on the VW ID. Buzz. The EV received a new aerodynamic package, a set of 20-inch wheels, and a lowered suspension, for those who like their minivans sporty.

The VW ID. Buzz got beefed up from the Irmscher Van Systems department in Remshalden. The result was previewed in computer-generated images before the first example is completed. The bodykit includes front and rear bumper extensions with matching side skirts and a roof spoiler. Irmscher suggests that the add-ons are tested in terms of aerodynamics and pedestrian protection, although the van doesn’t have the performance to require extra downforce.

The model rides on a new set of 20-inch “New Star” alloy wheels featuring five twisted double spokes, which are available in black or with diamond-polished surfaces. Of course, Irmscher has more alloy wheels options for anyone that is interested. The tuner showed different options for decorating the tires with a retro-inspired white-wall finish or more discreet orange rings. They also offer the option of orange or gray stripes highlighting the duo-tone finish of the VW.

As for chassis upgrades, the EV got closer to the ground by 30 mm (1.2 inches) thanks to a set of lowering springs which are said to further improve its handling credentials. The ID. Buzz didn’t receive any performance modifications, so you’ll have to settle for the stock rear-mounted electric motor producing 201 hp (150 kW / 204 PS).

Last but not least, Irmscher can fit their multifunction “i Box” system inside the cabin, effectively converting the minivan into a camper. The kit costs €4,874.24 ($5,250) and includes a foldable double bed, a removable kitchen module with a cooking stove and sink, a portable shower, and plenty of storage compartments.
