Last year, the entire allocation of Toyota GR86s for the UK market sold out in 90 minutes, leaving many eager buyers signing up to a “packed” waiting list. Fortunately, Toyota UK has now announced the arrival of additional right-hand-drive GR86 units. However, it seems that even with this expansion, the demand still outpaces the supply.
According to a dedicated Q&A page on the official UK website, the Toyota GR86 is “exclusively available to buy through personal email invitation and only online”, due to high demand and limited availability. The page states that priority will be given to those on the original waiting list, allowing them to purchase the vehicle in chronological order. While the exact number of cars in the new allocation is not mentioned in the release, Toyota’s expectation that the model will sell out soon suggests that the quantity is limited.

Toyota has confirmed that it will maintain a waiting list for potential customers, with the hope of securing additional GR86 units in the future. It is worth noting that Toyota had previously announced that the GR86 would be available in Europe for a limited period of two years, as the GR-branded model does not comply with the forthcoming safety regulations.
The UK-spec Toyota GR86 is offered in a single trim level, featuring 18-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlights, and an 8-inch infotainment system as standard equipment. The naturally-aspirated 2.4-liter boxer engine makes 232 hp (172 kW / 234 PS) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear axle through either a 6-speed manual or an optional torque-converter automatic.
The GR86 is priced at £32,495 ($40,730) with the manual gearbox and at £34,495 ($43,237) with the automatic, making it around £2.2k-2.3k ($2.8k-2.9k) more expensive compared to last year. According to Toyota, the price hike is attributed to “inflation within supply chains, specifically on the costs of raw materials and logistics”. The first units for 2023 will be delivered towards the end of the year.
