In the midst of 2022, a company emerged with bold claims of developing the first “Ultra-Car” set to debut in 2022 or 2023. However, skepticism arose, labeling it as potential vaporware. In light of this, we asked about the cars (whether genuine concepts, prototypes, or possibly dubious) that you’d genuinely want to see make it to production, and your responses didn’t disappoint.
Honorable mention goes to the Jaguar C-X75, the latest Lotus Esprit concept, the Chrysler Imperial, and the stunning Chrysler ME Four-Twelve. They each deserve quite a bit of credit as this was a tough list to get onto. The fifth-place spot ended up with 14 upvotes and only a single downvote which is pretty sterling.
5. Alpha Wolf
Technically, the Alpha Motors Wolf is being developed for production, and earlier this year, the company said it is working on a functional prototype of the pickup truck, so there’s a chance you’ll be able to buy one in the near future. Introduced back in mid-2021 through renders, this punchy little pickup sure looks cool and makes it onto our list as the only truck to do so.
4. Saleen S5S Raptor
Of all the companies here, the S5S Raptor stands out because Saleen seemed capable of making it but times got tough. 2008, in case you don’t remember, wasn’t amazing for the auto industry and it was worse for the S5S Raptor. Despite its stunning curves and styling, this supercar never got off the line.
2. Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6
Hailed as an all-electric car of the future by Mercedes, the Vision 6 is said to capture the brand’s “Sensual Purity” design. It features 24-inch wheels, premium leather upholstery, and evidently an electric powertrain with 750 hp (550 kW).
2. Ford Shelby GR-1
This and the Mercedes both ended up with 15 upvotes and no downvotes but if it were up to me, it would be the Ford Shelby GR-1 that went into production. Introduced back in 2004, this thing featured some components from the then-current Ford GT but used a 6.4-liter V10 under the hood.

For a brief time, it looked like Superformance was going to license and build a few of these, but the company seems to have put the project on the shelf.
1. Hyundai N Vision 74
Despite some reports over time that suggested that we might actually get an N Vision 74, it turns out not to be true. At least for now, that is. This little sports car garnered 17 upvotes and only a single downvote, not to mention the positive follow-up comments that were 100% upvoted. Hyundai might not be convinced just yet to build this thing but here’s to hoping that they change their mind. Just build this thing already!
