Some six months after first being revealed in Europe, the updated 2024 Polestar 2 has been announced for Australia prior to local sales commencing on July 5.
The Polestar 2 remains one of the very finest electric vehicles on the market but that hasn’t stopped the Swedish marque from finding ways to make it even better. These improvements can be first seen with the entry-level Long Range Single Motor variant priced from AU$67,400 ($45,197).
Driving this variant is a 69 kW battery pack that offers maximum DC charging speeds of 135 kW. It features a single electric motor with 200 kW (268 hp) and 490 Nm (361 lb-ft) that drives the rear wheels, a significant change from the current base model that’s sold exclusively in front-wheel drive configuration.

Shoppers seeking a rear-wheel drive variant but with a little extra range can opt for the Long Range Single Motor. This model rocks a larger 82 kWh battery with 205 kW DC charging speeds and is good for up to 654 km (406 miles) on a charge. It’s also a little more powerful, packing 220 kW (295 hp) and 490 Nm (361 lb-ft). It can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.2 seconds and starts at AU$71,400 ($47,880).
Then there are the two AWD models. The first is dubbed the Long Range Dual Motor and also has an 82 kWh battery. It now sports a new electric motor driving the rear wheels and when working in conjunction with a smaller motor at the front, delivers a total of 310 kW (416 hp) and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft), allowing for a 0-100 km/h sprint of just 4.5 seconds. It starts at AU$76,400 ($51,233) and can travel up to 591 km (367 miles) on a charge.
Continuing to top out the range is the Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor with Performance Pack. It is priced from AU$85,400 ($57,268) and has been boosted up to 350 kW (469 hp), meaning it can hit 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds. It also has a quoted range of up to 591 km (367 miles).
