Chinese automaker HiPhi will make its European debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed running from July 13-16. The event will also mark the British dynamic debuts of both the HiPhi X and the HiPhi Y.
The car manufacturer has revealed that the HiPhi Z will complete two runs up the Goodwood hillclimb each day during the First Glance Run while the HiPhi Y will be placed on static display in the Electric Avenue. This will mark the Y’s first public appearance outside of China following on from its global debut at the Shanghai Auto Show earlier in the year.
“Goodwood Festival of Speed is an iconic event with a truly global audience,” HiPhi chief technology officer and co-founder Mark Stanton said. “It’s a spectacle that celebrates not only a rich motoring history but also the cutting-edge present, which makes it the perfect backdrop for us to introduce the groundbreaking HiPhi brand and our HiPhi Y and Z to many people for the very first time.”

Confirmation of the brand’s presence at Goodwood comes just a couple of weeks after the brand formed by Shanghai-based Human Horizons announced European pricing details for its models.
The first of the three electric models HiPhi is launching in Europe is the X SUV. It starts at an eye-watering €123,000 ($133,000) in four-seater guise in Germany but a more affordable €109,000 ($118,000) version with six seats is also available. It is driven by a pair of electric motors each with 295 hp and can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in an impressive 3.9 seconds. HiPhi says it can travel 286 miles (460 km) on a charge.
Then there is the HiPhi Z. This model is a uniquely-shaped sedan starting at €105,000 ($113,000) in five-seat guise and €107,000 ($116,000) as a more luxurious four-seater. It has a 120 kWh battery pack and boasts 345 miles (555 km) of range, while it packs quite the punch with 663 hp from its two electric motors. The final model to launch will be the HiPhi Y but prices for it haven’t been announced.
