As the facelifted Porsche 911’s reveal date grows nearer, our spy photographers have captured the Targa variant out and about testing. Up front, the revised bumper features a squarer front fascia, echoing the changes made to the Cayenne with its facelift. The air intakes also feature fewer horizontal strakes than before, and they eschew the vertical active vents of the outgoing model.

At the rear, a tweaked light bar takes center stage. The bumper design itself has also been changed, with the license plate now residing on the bumper proper rather than the diffuser. And on the topic of the diffuser, it too has been modified, featuring a much cleaner design that truncates just outside the exhaust tips rather than spanning across the entire rear end. That being said, these features are all subject to change when optioning Porsche‘s SportDesign package that will inevitably come out for this car, though it could be that the bodywork visible on this prototype represents the package itself.

While there aren’t any images of the interior, previous spy shots have revealed one of the car’s bigger changes: a fully digital gauge cluster. Along with this new gauge cluster, there is expected to be an updated infotainment system, though nothing is known for certain. Aside from those changes, the cabin appears to remain unchanged from the pre-facelift 992.1 Targa.

Engine options expected to remain largely the same, if not with a slight power bump, but the real news is the expected introduction of an electrified powertrain. Not much is known about this powertrain other than that it will be a conventional hybrid rather than a plug-in, but Porsche has made it clear that these electrification efforts are being done in the name of performance rather than efficiency. Nevertheless, this would be the first hybrid 911 in the model’s 60-year history, which will surely be a momentous milestone for the iconic nameplate.
