Polestar 3 deliveries were recently pushed back to the second quarter of 2024, but it appears the delay hasn’t dampened the company’s enthusiasm for the crossover.
Quite the opposite as Car Magazine is reporting the model may receive the BST treatment. The report is light on specifics, but claims “suits in Gothenberg are now weighing up a … bonkers version” of the crossover.
That isn’t much to go on, but the Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor has a combined output of 483 hp (360 kW / 489 PS) and 619 lb-ft (840 Nm) of torque. This should enable the model to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in five seconds flat and onto a top speed of 130 mph (210 km/h).
If the standard model isn’t quick enough, the Performance Pack increases the output to 510 hp (380 kW / 517 PS) and 671 lb-ft (910 Nm) of torque. This lowers the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time to 4.7 seconds, although the top speed remains unchanged.
A Polestar 3 BST would likely be even more extreme and draw cues from the 2 BSTs. As a result, the high-performance crossover could have a sport-tuned suspension with a reduced ride height and unique wheels wrapped in specially-developed rubber. Other possible upgrades could include Brembo brakes as well as styling tweaks inside and out.
Powertrain upgrades are also possible as the Polestar 2 BSTs are outfitted with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system developing 469 hp (350 kW / 475 PS) and 501 lb-ft (680 Nm) of torque. However, that remains to be seen and the Polestar 3 BST apparently hasn’t been green-lighted yet.
