Nissan is getting ready for the 2018 Beijing Auto Show at the end of the month, with a range of vehicles that includes a mysterious electric model.
It will be limited to the Chinese market, part of the brand’s ‘M.O.V.E. to 2022’ plan and made together with Dongfeng. Also, it “will help meet growing demand for electric cars in China”, according to the company. Other details about it are being kept tucked away for the moment, but joining it at the automotive event will be the IMx Kuro.
The latter is an electric crossover concept with a range in excess of 600 km (372 miles). First shown in Geneva last month, it too will be making its debut in the People’s Republic.
Among its key features, the IMx Kuro features Artificial Intelligence. The Brain-to-Vehicle technology, as Nissan calls it, is capable of interpreting signals from the driver’s brain to control certain functions.
The 2018 World Green Car of the Year, the new-gen Nissan Leaf, will be displayed in Beijing as well. The world’s best-selling EV has a NEDC-rated range of 378 km (235 miles), a more powerful electric motor, semi-autonomous system, new technologies and fresh styling.
Nissan’s Terra, a new body-on-frame SUV that’s based on the Navara, is coming to Beijing as well. It will then go on sale locally, as well as in other global markets this year, and judging by preliminary details, it’s expected to arrive with two engines: a 2.3-liter diesel and a 2.5-liter petrol.
