Alfa Romeo has begun the presentation of its new mid-engined supercar at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Lombardy, Italy. You can watch the livestream video of the presentation below. (Updated 8/30).

Previously, Alfa had released a teaser image that appeared to show the steering wheel of the car but it is very blurry and unclear. What we can see is that the center of the steering wheel will be finished in brown leather while there will also be an Alfa Romeo badge that appears to have been crafted from aluminum and lacks the ‘Alfa Romeo’ text.

Alfa Romeo is remaining tight-lipped about the car but a report surfaced last week claiming that the car will be dubbed the 33 and that just 33 units are bound for the production line. The design of the car is thought to have been influenced by the iconic Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale from 1967.

Technical specifications about the car remain a mystery. Some claim that the 33 will be based on the Maserati MC20 and that it will use the same 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6. Not only that but it has been speculated that it could add at least one electric motor to this engine, giving the car a significant power advantage over the MC20 and perhaps as much as 800 hp. Other sources assert that it will use a version of the 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 found in the Giulia Quadrifoglio and Stelvio Quadrifoglio but upgraded with some additional grunt.

Regardless of what engine is driving the new Alfa Romeo supercar, it is expected to top out at 206 mph which converts nicely to 333 km/h.

Alfa Romeo chief executive Jean-Philippe Imparato confirmed earlier this year that the brand started accepting deposits for the car before it had been signed off by Stellantis. He also claimed that it would be sold out by the time it was unveiled.
