The Miura is still regarded as the ultimate of all Lamborghini models by many and next month, an extraordinary example will cross the auction block. If pre-auction estimates prove to be accurate, it could sell for between $3.5 million and $4.25 million.
This Miura is one of just 150 P400 SV examples ever built which, excluding the ultra-limited P400 SV/J variant, served as the ultimate version of the car. Lamborghini first took off the covers to the car in 1971 and while it shared many of its components with lesser Miura models, it benefitted from a series of enhancements to make it that much better.
For example, Lamborghini altered the cam timing of the 3.9-liter naturally-aspirated V12 and installed new Weber carburetors, allowing the car to produce an additional 15 hp, lifting the output to 380 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. This Miura SV is one of just 96 to have a split sump where the gearbox had its own lubrication system separate from the engine.
Gooding & Company adds that this Miura SV is the only one painted in Tahitian Blue while sitting on gold wheels with gold rocker panels. The color combination looks extraordinary and a concours-quality restoration from Italian specialist Cremonini Garrozzeria means the whole car looks just as good as it would have when it first left the factory. Further adding to the car’s provenance is the fact that it has had just three private owners from new.

This car rolled out of the Lamborghini factory on May 12, 1972, and has been equipped with air conditioning, making it one of just 30 SVs with air-con. It also rocks stunning white leather upholstery and was originally delivered to a customer in Italy. The first owner loved it so much that he kept it for 38 years and drove almost 80,000 km (~50,000 miles) in it.
