Formula 1 cars remain the pinnacle of performance around racetracks but in a straight line, a growing number of all-electric hypercars are showing that batteries and electric motors are almost impossible to beat down the quarter-mile.
In one of the most remarkable drag races that CarWow has ever held, it decided to bring together a Rimac Nevera, a McMurtry Spierling, and a Red Bull RB8 Formula 1 car for a test to see which of them was quickest. Things did not go well for the F1 car.
In the first race, both the Nevera and the Spierling rocketed off the line with exceptional pace but it was the McMurtry that initially opened up a leave. However, as it hit its 150 mph (242 km/h) top speed, the Nevera was able to overtake. Meanwhile, the RB8 was left trailing the other two and really had no chance.

The second of the three races is equally as exciting. In this race, the Spierling easily gets the quickest launch due to a bunch of wheelspin experienced by the Rimac and ends up taking quite an easy victory. For the last race, it was once again a competition between the Rimac and the McMurtry, and just like in the first race, the 150 mph limiter of the McMurtry proved to be its downfall and the Rimac edged ahead just before the line. Both cars in 8.4 seconds while the F1 car needed 9.5 seconds.
A rolling race from 50 mph (80 km/h) was also held. This one proved to be more favorable for the F1 car and it kept pace with the Rimac and the McMurtry. As for the McMurtry, it hit its limiter and started to fall behind while the Red Bull and Rimac streaked out. As the speeds approached 200 mph (320 km/h), the F1 car also started to drop back and the Rimac was able to take the win.
