People get up to all sorts of things in rented performance cars. While some are happy just to cruise around, drinking in the admiring glances, others decide to attempt land speed records or get mixed in high speed chases with the police that land them in prison and the car in the wrecker’s yard.

The latter is what happened to a gray Lamborghini Urus that was hired from a Miami rental agency this week. The chase began in southwest Miami-Dade where the unnamed driver was wanted for assaulting a law enforcement officer, according to WSVN.

Police on the ground lost sight of the suspect, no doubt thanks to the accelerative punch of the Lamborghini’s 641 hp (650 PS) bi-turbo V8, but he was picked up by a helicopter who happened to be in the air for another case. The Urus is reported to have collided with at least three vehicles as it sped along a route that passed through the the Sweetwater and Doral area, before eventually smashing into the back of a tow truck.

That collision must have been brutal because footage of the aftermath shows the SUV with a shattered windshield and bent A-pillar on the passenger side. And it must have also affected the powertrain and suspension because soon after the collision the driver brought the Urus to a stop and voluntarily exited the vehicle to wait for the police to arrive on the scene. He didn’t have to wait long until four officers, all with guns drawn, surrounded him and took him into custody.

Police haven’t released the name of the driver, or exactly what charges he faces, but it’s likely that the next couple of years of his life, much like the Urus, can be completely written off.
