In the era of electric vehicles, finding ways to entertain drivers while they charge their vehicles is becoming an increasingly urgent. Fortunately, this is also the era of big infotainment, and BMW is putting that to good use with its AirConsole, in-car gaming system—the next title for which is coming soon.
Such is BMW’s commitment to entertaining its vehicles’ occupants, that it will be attending Gamescon, Cologne, this week with a new i5. Together, the automaker and AirConsole will show off everything the electric car can offer to dedicated gamers, including a new game: “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?”
Based on the hit TV show, the quiz game is currently under development, but will offer single- and multiplayer experiences. Played using both BMW’s central touchscreen, and the occupant’s smartphone, the game will help pass the time while drivers wait for a full charge.

“With AirConsole we bring a great platform for casual in-car gaming into our vehicles, which continuously pushes for new, entertaining experiences. Adding ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ is a perfect example of that,” said Stephan Durach, Senior Vice President BMW Group Connected Company Development.
The game will become available to BMW and MINI vehicles with the AirConsole App over the course of 2024. For those who already need something to play, BMW offers a variety of games, including titles in a variety of genres, like racing, sports, simulation, strategy, jump-and-run, and puzzles.
For its starring role on the show floor of Gamescon, Cologne, which runs from August 23-27, BMW has covered the i5 in a special gaming wrap that is intended to symbolize “diving into the gaming experience down to the individual pixels.”
