Ford of Europe has introduced a slew of new vans and the company is now gearing up to introduce a camper van.
Set to be unveiled on August 24, the model promises to “make your next outdoors trip an experience of a lifetime.” The company went on to suggest it will embrace the “VanLife” trend.
More: Transit Custom Nugget Is Ford’s New Camper Van For Europe
The teaser videos only give us a few glimpses of the exterior, but we can see a sliding side window and a pop-up roof that is equipped with a solar panel. With the roof raised, there will be enough room to stand inside the van.
There isn’t much else to see, but the van has classy counters and what appears to be a refrigerated drawer. They’re joined by zippered window coverings and a rear touchscreen display that enables owners to adjust the color changing lighting system. We can also see what appears to be a sink and an external shower head or washer.
While Ford is staying tight-lipped, the model could be the redesigned Transit Custom Nugget. That remains to be seen, but the timing makes sense and the rear quarter glass indicates the camper is based on the Transit Custom. Speaking of which, the redesigned van was introduced last September and the camper van variant will likely debut at the Düsseldorf Caravan Salon later this week.
We’ll learn full details shortly, but the Transit Custom is available with an assortment of powertrains including EcoBlue diesels with outputs ranging from 108 hp (81 kW / 110 PS) to 168 hp (125 kW / 170 PS). There are also plug-in hybrid and electric variants.
