Spy photographers have snapped the Genesis GV90 taking a break from hot weather testing in Death Valley.
While the prototype is heavily disguised, it has a strong resemblance to the GV80. That being said, the GV90 is distinguished by a fully enclosed grille that echoes the one found on the Electrified GV70. We can also get a glimpse of vertical air curtains, a wide lower intake, and the company’s trademark quad lighting units.
Moving down the sides, we can see a sloping roof and an upward sweeping beltline. They’re joined by massive five-spoke wheels and a generous wheelbase that should provide an accommodating cabin with three rows of seating. The latter promises to be the big selling point as the GV80 only has 30.3 inches (770 mm) of third-row legroom.

The rear end does a good job of hiding its secrets, but the crossover will have a heavily stylized liftgate with quad lighting units that echo the ones up front. More interestingly, we can see crest-shaped faux exhaust tips.
Genesis has been tight-lipped about the GV90 but, back in 2021, the automaker announced new vehicles would be electric-only starting in 2025. The company’s existing ICE vehicles will then be eliminated by the end of the decade as Genesis will be a “100 percent zero emission vehicle brand by 2030.”
That’s not much to go on, but the model appears to follow in the footsteps of the Kia EV9 and Hyundai Ioniq 7. As a result, it likely rides on the E-GMP platform and could be powered by a 99.8 kWh battery pack. The latter can be paired to a dual motor all-wheel drive system developing 379 hp (283 kW / 384 PS) and up to 516 lb-ft (699 Nm) of torque.
This setup enables the EV9 to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in five seconds, hit a top speed of 124 mph (200 km/h), and have a range of approximately 270 miles (435 km). However, the GV90’s massive wheels could hamper things as the 21-inchers on the EV9 GT-Line drop the range to 243 miles (391 km).
