Volkswagen has previewed the new Tiguan and Passat in a video detailing the all-new DCC Pro adaptive shock absorbers that the two models will hit the market with.

The world has been waiting for the new Tiguan and Passat for quite some time. VW has already released various teaser images and photos of camouflaged prototypes and earlier this week, leaked images of the Tiguan without any camouflage emerged online.

The carmaker says that the DCC Pro suspension of the two models “combines comfort with agility like never before.” Each of the new adaptive shock absorbers is fitted with two valves, one of which controls the damping during compression while the other one adjusts the dampening during rebound. These valves operate independently, allowing the system to absorb shocks and bumps while also reducing body lean while cornering.

VW adds that both Comfort and Sport modes will be offered for the suspension in the new Tiguan and Passat.

Beyond the new suspension, we know that the 2024 Tiguan will be built on an updated version of the familiar MQB architecture. It is expected to be offered with a mild-hybrid 1.5-liter eTSI petrol, a 2.0-liter TSI petrol, a 2.0-liter TDI diesel, and two eHybrid PHEVs that will produce 201 hp and 268 hp respectively. The flagship eHybrid PHEV will also rock an 18.5 kWh battery pack providing it with an all-electric range of almost 62 miles (100 km).

As for the new Passat, VW has said that it will premiere before the end of August, meaning that we’ll see it in just a few days. Perhaps the most important update made to the ninth-generation Passat is that it will only be sold as a wagon, badged as the Passat Variant. It will also be larger than its predecessor and underpinned by a unique version of the MQB Evo platform. Like the Tiguan, it will be offered with diesel, petrol, mild-hybrid petrol, and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
